Position: Instructional Specialist This position requires the ability to teach and train individuals with various barriers to employment. It is important to have an understanding of various learning difficulties that clients may have due to histories of mental illness, trauma, and education disruption. The instructor must be able to be flexible in the approach to teaching and patient with each persons learning style. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Directs instructional programs for clients seeking to enter/reenter the workforce or learn basic life skills to prepare for or improve independent living. Develops and implements curriculum for computer skills classes emphasizing employment goals. * Curriculum will include development of soft skills to include, but not limited to: interpersonal relationships, communication skills, body language, conflict resolution, handling emotions, stress management, problem solving, understanding workplace culture, time management, prioritizing and scheduling etc. and development of hard skills: typing, internet use, understanding computer terminology, use of various programs (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) Develops and implements daily lesson plans. Markets program to various agencies and clients. Collaborates with Program Coordinator and funding source for proper client interventions Collects and tracks clients’ time sheets for submission to payroll department. Completes comprehensive daily case notes and monthly billing reports. Updates curriculum as needed in order to insure current relevant information. Attends client support meetings and collaborates with clients’ service providers to ensure comprehensive and appropriate service delivery Maintains communication with Program Coordinator, Case Managers, Counselors and other support staff as allowed by HIPAA Reports and documents any serious or problematic incident within 24 hours Seeks counsel and assistance with any situation outside of job role or area of expertise Attends staff meetings May be asked to cover for other staff as needed. Attends periodic training workshops, seminars and/or conferences as assigned to gain increased knowledge of the field of psychiatric rehabilitation and understanding of various disabilities. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma or GED and documentation of one year experience directly working with individuals with disabilities, preferably involved in the provision of vocational rehabilitation services. Teaching and/or training experience. Ability to complete accurate and comprehensive case notes documenting clients’ progress. Ability to work effectively with people with various disabilities and capabilities Ability to apply principles and methods of teaching and training persons with disabilities. Ability to act responsibly in an emergency situation. Reliable transportation. Knowledge of job search skills, job development, Vocational Rehabilitation services and requirements. Understanding of group dynamics and able to work effectively with people with various behavioral difficulties. Must be able to pass a drug screen prior to employment. Ability to pass a background security check ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Will be required to successfully complete and maintain: Title XIX State Certification CPR and 1stAid Gain clearance under the Department of Economic Security (fingerprint and background check) within 90 days of employment.
